Bourbon
Bourbon has been a part of American culture since the late 18th century, when farmers across Maryland and Pennsylvania found a ready and profitable market for their excess cereal crops by distilling the grain. Whilst customers from New Orleans asking for ‘Bourbon County whiskey', are responsible for the name, the charring of barrels to produce a sweeter-flavoured spirit is credited to Reverend Elijah Craig, and Sour Mash production that came later, was invented by Dr James C. Crow.
