It's a star that has been guiding adventurers, explorers and mariners for millenia. And it's the star by which all others are measured. It's called Sirius and this stellar compass has just given its name to The Dalmore 1951, a single vintage that will be the guiding light for whisky connoisseurs the world over.

The Guiding Light

Dalmore 1951 Distinguished and elegant, age has gracefully finessed this brilliant expression. Aromas of intense citrus and honeyed chocolate are quickly joined by roasted coffee, crushed walnuts and hints of liquorice spice. Let the spirit gently roll over the palate, holding it long in the mouth to tease out its illuminating flavours. First coffee and bitter chocolate, followed by crushed almonds and ripe apple, then toffee, spicy cinnamon and toasted oak provide the perfect finish. Richard Paterson - Master Distiller

Just 12 bottles made

Lady luck will shine on just a dozen fortunate souls. Filled to cask number 1781 on 7th June 1951, this limited expression has been allowed to age over the decades in second fill sherry oak. Now the stars have aligned and the balance between air, spirit and wood is perfect, allowing this unique spirit to truly shine.

Precious

There's a message in any bottle. And this bottle says that the Sirius is as unique and distinctive as it is rare and precious. The shape of the Italian crystal acts like a prism, focusing the light and allowing the amber hue of The Sirius to truly shine. Each of these bottles is uniquely numbered, comes with an individually hand written scroll and is decorated with an equally inimitable starburst setting. The bottle then sits neatly within a beautifully engraved transparent display box, glittering like a guiding star in the night sky.

The iconic stag

Forged from sublime Scottish Silver, the solid silver stag that adorns every bottle is a fine testament to the silversmith's art. Crafting it is a painstaking process and one, which like the maturation process itself, takes time and patience to perfect. First a master mould is carefully created by hand to capture the majesty of the iconic emblem. Then a molten river of silver flows into it at 900 degrees centigrade, setting instantaneously to preserve every detail. It was allowed to cool gently, letting the crystalline structure of the rare metal form perfectly. Each of the 12 silver stags is then lovingly hand-finished and proudly mounted within its unique starburst engraving.
