Tasting NotesRich golden straw in colour; bright and natural. The initial aroma is faintly nutty (walnuts? later chopped almonds), with light tangerine notes behind and a hint of milk chocolate (tangerine-cream chocolates?); the fresh, citric-fruit scents become more complex as the liquid breathes in the glass. Drinks very well straight; a light texture and a sweet then crisp and citric taste, with grapefruit, and a light nuttiness in the aftertaste. A short, clean finish.
A drop of water enhances both the nuttiness and the fruitiness, and although the overall aroma is subtle, the hint of milk chocolate is still there. Now the texture is smoother; the taste less sweet; still refreshingly tart in the short finish. Palate cleansing and very easy to drink.
Located on the outskirts of the cosmopolitan city of Glasgow, Auchentoshan is renowned for it's unique distillation process whereby the spirit is not distilled twice as elsewhere in Scotland.
